Oswin shook his head at the first egg, then jumped back in surprise at the second and third. It was clear that none of them liked him. Judging by the way some of the other candidates were sticking to certain eggs, they had found their partners. No matter, there were still other eggs. Besides, there would be more clutches, if he didn't find the right dragon in this one.
He went to the All That We Leave Behind egg next. The pale pink shell made it seem like it might be friendly, but appearances were deceiving. He got a sense of a snappish dragon within the egg. It seemed like there would be some spirited hatchlings in this clutch.
Next was The One That Got Away. He had a sense of calm from this egg, and it was not as distinctive as the others. But that could be good, too. The Weyr needed steady dragons. Finally he moved back to where he had been before, this time going to the darker The Riddle egg. His mind was instantly assaulted with questions, making him smile. The egg reminded him a lot of his fellow Crafters, always wanting to find out more about the world.

..::Oswin::.. ..::All That We Leave Behind::.. This egg seemed to actually be interested in him. It seemed to be, though violent, tearing through his mind, he wasn't right. No. It was becoming dismayed....
..::The One that Got Away::.. The egg was calm, as per usual, calm and steady. No wonder he had been over looked. Oh... I'm sorry. You aren't quite... right.
..::The Riddle::.. Oh! OH! This one had some answers! It probed his mind, asking questions, so many questions which persisted and went deeper and deeper into his mind. Oh yes! Yes! We will question the world together and you will teach me! We will be brilliant together! We will! We will!
------------------- Silence stupid green! The gold snapped the power that she had on the green. She was inferior in her eyes. Vastly so. she was gold and she was a green who refused to admit she was. Leave them alone! She descended from above on her own while Amaelia walked in. "Tyranith! There is no need for that!" she said aloud to her gold dragoness. Oh! Stupid dragoness always having to be all over everything! She hadn't even been here the whole time.
Heilliath hissed. Don't be doing that Tyranith!
Tyranith hissed. You would not allow that from me! You just like her because she is a green who can't order you around! Now you be quiet too! Just because you teach us does not mean you control us! You are no gold either!
Heilliath hissed, but she did not respond. Reltavia was not very happy with Tyranith or Amaelia, and she turned to the young queen rider angrily. "Are you just going to let her do that?!"
Amaelia frowned and almost seemed to shrink back into her self. "I'm sorry! But you know she's right. We need to leave the Candidates alone to experience the eggs. You taught me that. And I'm trying Relatavia!"
She turned towards the gold and snapped her mental hold on the gold. Tyranith hissed and fought from her place on the sands where she was watching and did as told just because it wasn't worth fighting Hers for it, but there was a tone of amusement that almost scared Amaelia from her. Oh joy. She was glad she wasn't in a real mood...

Midnath hissed back at the Gold and giggled as the WeyrQueen cut her off. Helliath may not be a Queen herself, but she had the heart of one. The green dragonet tilted her head at her sister, free to do as she wished now that the hold had been broken. My, my dearie...did we get up on the wrong side of bed this morning? Miniri gave a weary smile to Amaelia, a bit sorry for the girl. She normally didn't like the goldrider anymore than her dragoness liked Amaelia's gold, but it wasn't due to any personal reason. Midnath just had rooted too deep a hatred for her sibling that Miniri was easily swayed by the emotions.
"Don't be too harsh on her Relatavia. Please, it's my fault really. I should keep a better handle on Midnath...it's not all Amaelia's wrong doing." She looked at the Weyrwoman, hoping her fellow greenrider could hear reason. Midnath simply snorted and folded her wings against her sides. Oh come now, little ol' me was doing nothing wrong. Miniri! Tell them I was doing nothing wrong, you're Mine remember? You do as I tell you to. Miniri grimanced, narrowing her eyes at the green. Normally she was carefree and happy, but right now the earthbred girl was anything but.
"That's enough out of you." She pulled on the bond between them, gasping as Midnath snapped at her mentally and physically. I am no easily managed fool! I am a Queen-no-Goddess of this Weyr...even if you fools have yet to realize it. She hissed at the present people, then looked at the candidates. They were all hers to control, and she would by Faranth if she wanted to! Flicking her tail against the sand and leaving tracks behind her as she sauntered off to a corner, the Green watched the group from the shadows, her glowing eyes the most visible part of her.
"I can't stand her sometimes...at least she isn't actually capable of controlling others though...I can only imagine how much worse that would be. Maybe a dragonet from this clutch can cut them both down to size?"

Syre hid his mild disappointment well, given that he had just been rejected by the first egg he touched. He was used to it. They probably didn't like his forward manner, just like... well, just like pretty much everyone he tried to talk to. He always handled it well, and this time was no exception. Syre just moved on to whatever egg caught his eye next.
It happened to be the All That We Leave Behind egg. Pink was his color, and if the color of the egg was any indication of the color of the dragon inside, Syre would like this one. While kneeling, he shuffled in the sand to the pink shell and wondered if his presumed ability would carry over to this egg.
Syre pressed his palms to the shell, expecting warm, fuzzy feelings from the warm, fuzzy-looking shell. He couldn't have been more wrong, but in a fit of stubbornness, he kept his hands on the shell through the emotions of violence. He didn't last too long, though. Syre pulled away, somewhat discouraged, before moving on to the next egg.
The One That Got Away was closest and prettiest. The gold egg was close, too, but it seemed intimidating because it was just so large. Syre brushed his fingers over the blue mottled shell, wary from his last experience, but soon found he didn't have anything to worry about. The dragonet inside didn't have any of the hostile emotions the last one did, and Syre spent a little longer with it than he had the last.

..::Syrevek::.. ..::All that We Leave Behind::.. OH! So this one dared to touch its shell?! HA! The dragonet inside seemed to recoil and hiss. It was TIRED of being touched. Its hadn't come yet and this one was AGGRAVATING. GO AWAY! The egg seemed to shout at Syre and then proceeded to feel quite satisfied when he left.
..::The One that Got Away::.. The poor boy had been scared by its sibling. Well it wouldn't frighten him. No. It sent its mind into his, along with a cool, comforting feeling as he explored, almost seeming to rummage a bit, but always replacing what it overturned. You are the one. We will be together soon. This I promise you.
((Tyranith and Amaelia reply coming ASAP))

Tyranith turned to Heilliath, annoyed, but at the same time amused. She wasted no time in showing the temporary Weryqueen what she thought, barely her over and pinning her with a low hiss. Don't forget foolish green. You are no queen with no real control other than in title. And you! Midnath! Do not overlook my command because SHE says anything. Tyranith almost looked like she would bite the much smaller green before turning to Midnath with a hiss and click of jaws. Hmph. It was a good thing she was here or these... these IMPOSTERS would be misleading these who may be bondeds to these not yet hatched.
Take your time younglings. All is well. she crooned softly and gently to the minds of the Candidates, though it was almost a sinister purr in tone even as she walked over to the eggs and took a position near the center of the clutch, sitting and watching.
Amaelia sighed and braced herself as Reltavia rounded on her again, flinching. "I'm sorry, Lady Relatavia. At least Heilliath is unhurt." Reltavia snorted. "OH! I'll see that you are punished for this before you graduate Werylinghood!"
Amaelia winced and looked at Miniri almost pleadingly. "We both need to keep a better handle on them..." She looked over at where the large gold now was.
"I hope so. Tyranith, unfortunately, CAN control others. And it gives me a headache trying to make her not do it. She revels in the ability and I can't say that there has even been a single DAY when she hasn't given me a migraine." Amaelia sighed and looked at the large looming queen, giving a shake of her head in exasperation. "Just wait 'til she clutches. OH! She is going to be terrible!"
