Character Number: 2
Description: Syre is, quite simply, a very vain man. He's often been teased for not wanting to go outside without checking his appearance more than once. He tries hard to get a manly, mature look, but in all honesty, he's just too feminine to attain it. He keeps his dark blonde hair cut so the tips of his bangs brush his eyes, which definitely does not help with the "I am a manly man" goal. He likes his hair, though, and is unwilling to cut it off. Syre's eyes are a light brown, nothing really to be proud of on another person, but Syre seems to think that they're the most handsome part of his body. He also has eyebrows which are naturally quite thin, which helps with his "image" even less than long hair.
He's a product of long years in the sun, and has the skin to prove it. Syre has dark skin, although compared to most people, he's pretty average. This is the result of spending long hours in the rigging of ships with nothing to shield him from the sun. Syre learned long ago that is he wore clothes that couldn't be repaired to work, they would inevitably be damaged. So, he wears soft fabric shirts in various shades of brown, gray, and blue, and long pants, usually made of some material that doesn't easily tear.
Description: Syre is quite possibly the biggest flirt on the face of Pern. But, because he tends to go far overboard, he doesn't (and hasn't) had a real boyfriend. He's mostly dedicated to the risk of going around and occasionally getting slapped, and it's decidedly less dangerous than getting into fights. Which he avoids, by the way. He's very much a pacifist, and doesn't fight back on the occasion that he does get slapped; he just accepts that he's gone too far and leaves.
In order to have more time to flirt, Syre avoids lessons like they will burn him. It's not so much the practical aspect of his craft, because he loves being at sea, but learning math is unbelievably boring. He'll often be awake for twenty hours, hanging around the Dining Hall and Lake alternately, before passing out in his bed, sleeping for four hours, and doing it again. Once a sevenday, he dedicates an entire day to sleeping... or at least he tries to. Sometimes it's hard with such an active social life.
Generally, though, Syre is just a happy person. He smiles all the time, and finds it difficult not to open up immediately to people. It's actually not so much a good thing, since he tends to make friends with everyone, not just the people who don't want to hurt him. Also, he'll forget your name.
Written History: Syre is an orphan, and quite possibly the luckiest orphan on Pern in a sense. His father was unknown, and his mother abandoned him a few days after he was born. By chance, the Hold he found himself at had a thriving Fishercraft, and unlike many other children, Syre was exposed to ships since he was a baby.
His adoptive mother was a strict although well-meaning woman; his father was a dedicated old sailor with a small boat to call his own. Since he was old enough to stand up, Syre accompanied his father on jaunts down the coast to do business with neighboring cotholds. He never had a problem with seasickness like many of his peers, and as such flourished in his apprentice lessons.
Speaking of which, his lessons began at age ten, two years earlier than normal, for the sole reason that he was showing good skill in being in the rigging of large ships. He was small enough to get into small spaces and quick enough to respond to nearly any event, even if he wasn't strong enough to deal with them on his own.
Syre never liked the lessons, preferring to learn by practical experience, and it was for this reason he was taken on as crew of a merchant ship at the age of fourteen. He spent three quarters of the year making runs from the Hold across the oceans, carrying goods and people. Winters were meant for repairing anything that had broken and (not) going to lectures. Syre didn't see the need - he already had a job and everything.
Then, the captain became ill and eventually died the second winter after Syre got the job. Thankfully for Pern, it was winter, because the shipping out of the Hold had stopped for the season. The ship was sold to a man who wanted to fish with it, and, unable to get a position on the remaining merchant ship, Syre found himself without a job for the next spring.
While his parents wanted to keep him around to finish his education, they had become used to feeding just three people for most of the year, and they couldn't stretch a meager income to accommodate him. Not really wanting to stick around anyway, Syre took the first trip to the Weyr and has been here ever since.

- It doesn't matter one bit to me. Anything interesting.
Colors You would Prefer Not to Get:
- Again, doesn't matter.
Why? Because every time I've played him, he's been on something else, and it's always fun to play.
How Flexible Are you? Super flexible.
Mauleble and to what degree? Don't kill him, and I'd like him to keep all extremities, but anything else is fine.
