"I just want to grow up already, it sucks being the little kid."
PB: Quinn Lord
Description:
Unlike his sister, Kikunae is petite, small and twiggy. He seems to have no body fat on him, and not much hard muscle either. However, Rikula always assures him that it'll come in time since he's still growing. At only 5ft 2in, this seems to be true for now. Like his sister though, the boy has dark chestnut colored hair that seems rough in texture like a runnerbeast's mane, yet is as soft as kitten fur. Often people can find his older sibling running her hand through it affectionately.
His eyes are like Riku's in that they know a certain hardness, but while hers are all about distrust, Kikunae's show a great wisdom to many that see them. They're the eyes found on an old man who has done much in his life, not that of a child's. Yet, a child Kikunae is. His face has the structure to be chiseled and perhaps quite handsome when he's older, but for now the baby roundness still clings to his jasmine making him seem only 11 or even 10 instead of his newly turned 13.
Even though the look of his eyes has been mentioned to be similar, the actual color is only slightly so. Kikunae has stormy gray eyes, which Rikula has in flecks, but they do not have any green let alone are filled with it mostly. No, to look at Kikunae's eyes is to see a storm brewing. Which contrasts greatly with his fair complexion and dark hair. He seems the brooding type really to most because of this, and he actually is for the most part. As you'll find in his personality, it's just internal.
Besides his face and body structure, Kikunae also has something else that is of major value in describing. His voice. Clear, and sweet is how Riku describes it. It is filled with everything innocent and childish, and everyone knows how often those voices are heard. Sarcasm aside, it's the kind of voice that is appreciated in you boys that are training to be harpers. Too bad that Kikunae chose the way of a healer the.
It's not even major healing, but more of a medicinal kind and he often uses his hands to relax his patients. *Massage, herbs, etc is his medium.* His voice helps generally in his work as well, as it has been said to be calming on the people he is working on. His fingers are nimble from his time not only training with throwing knives with his sister, but also with preparing herbal mixtures. Kikunae also always has a small satchel on him about the size of his fist, made out of a reddish leather. It holds herbs that could needed on a daily basis for things like upset stomachs or abrasions.
Description:
Kikunae is a boy full of happy feelings and innocence. He will never look on the pessimistic side of life, and always strives to see the best in everyone he meets. Even the weyrbrat bullies he's met only receive pity from him instead of hate. The fact is, Kikunae is incredibly empathetic and gentle with others. It helps in his studies to become a healer especially, and often shows in his day to day life. He's a selfless person as well. Kikunae would do anything to make someone better, even if it might mean harming himself. this is mostly seen with his sister Rikula.
The healer also hates the dark and thunder storms, though simple rain showers he enjoys. He's downright terrified of thunder though. Large noises like that spook him as easily as a young runnerbeast, and they are often avoided when possible. He prefers the sunlight and the outdoors where he isn't confined to one space for too long. Another thing he hates is to raise his voice. The act of yelling or trying to put himself over others is something he is uncomfortable with. The only exception to this is when he's working and someone is in danger. Then his need to help overpowers his fears and discomfort. In addition to all this, Kikunae is also very curious.
He loves new information, and will often be found sneaking into the records room whenever he can. The youngster listens avidly to the Harper's tales as well, memorizing each and every line and stanza to the last word. Memorization seems to be something he's good at, and if one asked Kikunae if he was more of a strategist or a warrior, it would be the former that he would want. This is partially because his whole life Rikula has always been there to protect him. Instead of taking after their mother and learning the ways of the hunt and going off with his sister to watch the guards train, Kikunae wanted to become a healer.
The boy is too frightened of being the center of attention to actually do any major acts with the training, but he is quite good at simple remedies. Because of this, his parents didn't make him go to a hall when he first showed interest, and instead brought in a nearby trader caravan and asked their healer to stay in the village and teach him. He was a determined student, and that determination shows itself in anything really. His sister might be the one that acts on it, but Kikunae is the stubbornness behind any of their decisions.
Additionally, the young boy often tries to be the "man of the family." Without a father, he feels like he should take care of his sister, more so now that he is growing older. Rikula however has different plans, and this will occasionally cause the siblings to fight over who is in charge. Generally Rikula ends up winning, but gives in eventually to her younger brother. The one thing that is a bit odd, though not much since Kikunae is still a kid, is that he gets himself into trouble....a lot. His curiosity mixed with his constant need to be challenged by something new often times has him playing pranks on other candidates or getting his nose into places it doesn't belong.
Written History:
To explain Kikunae and Rikula's history, you have to understand their background. Their mother was a simple farm girl living at a nearby village. Not a hold or any such grand place, just a simple village. Their father was the village leader's oldest son. They weren't meant to be married to each other, and tradition in the village stated that their father should have married someone that his parents matched him to. However, Kikunae's mother and father fell in love anyway, and her grandparents decided that they couldn't tear them apart.
Kikunae's Uncle, who was also fond of her mother, did not like this at all. The younger son of the Village leader couldn't do anything about it though, and watched in fury as his older brother took the woman he wanted and had a family with her. The man was devious, and he took turns to plot his revenge. The entire time Kikunae and his sister were growing up though, things were seemingly peaceful. Kikunae took after his father more and often would follow him around when he went on business in the village. When the boy took to healing, a trader healer was brought in to help teach him even.
As Rikula learned to fight, Kikunae was dragged along for a few lessons though. By the time he was 9, his Uncle finally set his plans into motion. He sent paid men to kill her father while out on a run to the nearby Weyr, and even though they made it seem like an accident, the family knew. Their mother, in grief, took her own life. When his Uncle came to Rikula, saying that he had arranged a marriage between her and a son of a nearby village, Riku stabbed him and ran with Kikunae.
For the next 4 turns, they moved from place to place in an attempt to stay out of their Uncle's reach. Often, their three cousins would help them, only to spite each other by ratting the other sisters out. After a couple of turns of this, Kikunae and his sister severed any and all connection with them. It was on his 13th turn that Kikunae and his sister stopped close to Northern Aurora Weyr. A bluerider had found them on a search at the nearest Hold, and were returning when the blue asked to land. Riku was prepared for a fight, but the rider ensured her that the dragon was only curious.
Together, the blue, his rider, and Kikunae persuaded Rikula into letting the two siblings go to the nearby Weyr. There, they were to stand for the clutches, and find safety...they hope.
When the arrived at the Weyr and finally got to the egg touching, Kikunae instantly bonded to one particular egg. Once the hatching came around, he found that the green dragonet inside his egg was the one he was meant for. Oh! Oh! K'naeMine! Did you see my terrible sister!? She chased me and hissed at me and... and... Oh why doesn't she like me? Am I really so bad...? Why was I exiled from my siblings...? It was so SCARY.
Will: Same as with Rikula, I will either give them to someone I trust, turn them into NPC's, or kill them off.
"I always knew from the moment I met her egg that we'd be together."
Appearance: A great green with a lot of stamina, Moriith is a wonderfully built female of beautiful colors. She has some brindling and speckling patterns to the changes in her hide. She is relatively small all things considered.
Personality: She often becomes lonely or even afraid. She can't stand to be alone and she certainly can't stand to see anyone hurt. She is easily hurt and easily embarrassed. She needs someone to look after her and she knows it.
